Tackle Tips & Techniques
Shallow Water fishing

This is what we call a standard tackle and it works good in most situations. The Mini or Medium ProPimple with the standard link or a gold chain with a treble hook in appropriate size. Bait on a maggot / fish eye or imitation if you like. 0.18mm is a good dimension of line to the smaller ProPimple.
This is a super set up of for shallow water but also works great in depth of 30 ft. The various color combinations of the ProPimple fit into different types of water . The difference is often marginal, but it can certainly be worthwhile to experiment with different colors on your local lakes.
Tip: A hard to catch fish wants a longer link and often a smaller and more discreet treblehook. The next step to catch really difficult fish are line-link to further increase the distance between ProPimple and hook.
Here is a nice video fishing in shallow water with the tackle above from a competition in Sweden last year. To win this you needed the highest total weight. Need we say that our contestants from ProScandinavia won pretty big !
Deep Water fishing
Here we use the heavier ProPimples. King or Jumbo with 0.20mm nylon or braid 0.10-0.15 mm.

The trick to be successful at deep water fishing is to keep the school interested as long time as possible. Using the smaller ProPimple in deep water is often inefficient. You will have to get down there faster and the ProPimple King or Jumbo will do that for you.
This video clip shows good fishing with ProPimple Jumbo and treble hooks on slightly deeper water.
Using longer tackle with marmooskas
The solution for finicky fish!

This is a method that we really like and we have won a great number of competitions using this setup.
Under certain circumstances the fish acts different. Air pressure, water temperature, amount of snow on the ice, time of year and even hour of the day are just a few factors that could change the behavior of the fish significantly.
In brief: the more finicky the fish is the longer tackle setup you should use. But please do not overdo it, using this method slows down your technique quite a bit and only use it when it's really necessary. If you try Jigging this setup for regularly aggressive fish you will probably end up having a lot of bites on the ProPimple instead of the marmooska.
The knot!
This is the knot that we use most often with our ProPimples. It is supposed to be a small loop when you tighten the knot that allows the ProPimple to swim freely.
Tip: If you want a lure with less motion use a knot without a loop.
